How I stopped a cold in 1 day (part 2 of 2)

by hartteuser Leave a Comment

Want to learn about the other 2 things I did to stop a cold in 1 day?

In my last blog post, I wrote about how to stop a cold in 1 day using bone broth.

You can find it here how I stopped a cold in 1 day

Today’s blog post is part 2 where I list the other two things I did to stop a cold.

But before I list them, I really want to draw attention to a few facts about bone broth that’s VERY IMPORTANT.

IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT BONE BROTH EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW

#1. Don’t forget a very important ingredient.

When you make it yourself, there is a very important ingredient that must be added to draw the minerals from the bones into your broth.

Without this ingredient, you aren’t getting the glucosaminoglycans, those special molecules that keep your joints humming and bones strong.

You can find it in my bone broth recipe. Just click on the link below for your free copy.

DOWNLOAD MICHALE’S FREE RECIPE EBOOK

#2. Use cartilage rich joint material when choosing your bones.

While my bone broth recipe uses Chicken bones, the kind of animal doesn’t matter. Get organic when you can. Free range and grass fed are the best. The stuff that helps your joints the most comes from the cartilage rich joint material.

#3. You can just drink it!

No need to only use bone broth in soups. Just drink it! In fact, this is common practice around the world. Since the time of writing, I’ve been so impressed with ‘real life’ health benefits to bone broth that I’ve still kept to my ‘1 to 2 cups of bone broth’ as a daily habit.

Personally, I’ve found such great benefit to sipping this mineral-rich, immune supporting beverage, that I’ve purchased 6 containers, as back up, while I make my own. I found a great source at our local Farmers Market.

I frankly don’t want to run out! What I’ve particularly noticed is how much better my joints feel.

Change up the flavor and add ginger and ginseng. Heat it up and enjoy it like tea.

Which brings me to the 2nd thing I did to stop a cold in 1 day…..

Ginger

Ginger can take away the aches and pains of colds and flu. The major active ingredients in Ginger are the turpines and oleo-resin compounds called Gingerois. These are the two primary ingredients that have been identified to provide antiseptic, lymph-cleansing, along with a perspiration induced action that all works to clear the toxins OUT of the body. Ginger is also a classic herb used when inflammation needs to be quelled and healing to reinstate. This is also why ginger is so effective in arthritic conditions as well.

HOW TO USE GINGER TO STOP A COLD

Ginger is considered the ‘Winter Herb’ for many people living in cold climates. For that reason, I always have a fresh root on hand when I need it.

Use as a tea (fresh root or dried), or in capsule, or as a powder directly in the mouth.

GENERAL DOSAGE TO STOP A COLD 1.:

Infants to 3 years: Use Ginger tea in a bottle or cup, or given by dropper or teaspoon – 1 to 4 oz. up to four times a day. If any signs of diarrhea occur, then simply reduce amounts and frequency (from 4 times a day to 2 or 3 times a day). This happens because it is too stimulating to the intestines. No harm done:)

Children 4 years to 10 years. Ginger tea, 1 to 4 cups a day as desired. Or 1/2 to 1 tsp Ginger powder added to some hot water, honey and lemon. Children ages 6+ can take Ginger tincture, 10 drops, up to 4 times a day.

Children 11 years to Adults. No limits here. Ginger can be taken as often and as strong as preferred. If diarrhea occurs, simply reduce amounts and frequency. Again, no harm done (only likely a good ‘clean out’).

Adolescence can take Ginger tincture, 15 drops 4 times a day and Adults 30 drops, 4 times a day.

You can shop for Ginger tincture here

Ginger tincture is traditionally used in Herbal Medicine to help relieve digestive upset, including lack of appetite, nausea, digestive spasms, indigestion, dyspepsia and flatulent colic (carminative).

I personally pinched off a nail size piece of whole fresh ginger and chewed it. I did this 4 times that day when I stopped my cold in 1 day. Strong but obviously very effective.

However, it is always a good health strategy to keep Ginger tincture on hand when you need it fast.

The last thing I did to stop a cold in 1 day was take Yarrow Tincture.

Yarrow

If you are struggling with a cold or flu, and you’re looking for a natural remedy – Yarrow is probably on of the best herbs for the job.

I’ve written about Yarrow and how it’s one of the best cold and flu remedies out there.

Find my article here Natural Remedy for Cold and Flu. There’s additional info about other health applications if you want to dive in deeper.

Some interesting facts about Yarrow:

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), is one of the most common wayside herbs, grown in many places throughout North America.

Properties of Yarrow: Bitter, Stimulant, Anti inflammatory, Astringent, Diuretic, Diaphoretic, Tonic, Emmenagogue, and Alternative

Yarrow is often put in the ‘bitter’ category of herbs. Due to the extremely powerful volatile oil (Achillein). This oil, together with it’s tannic acid, gives it a stimulating, anti inflammatory, astringent effect.

Yarrow is also a natural diuretic, so when consuming yarrow tea, be prepared to hit the washroom several times a day. In fact, this is exactly what happened to me. But hey, I kicked my cold in 1 day!

Yarrow also helps bring on a sweat (diaphoretic). In fact, you could support a fever with it and assist the body’s natural healing response to infection this way.

GENERAL DOSAGE TO STOP A COLD 2.

Infants to 3 years: Yarrow tea or infusion offered in a bottle or cup, by dropper, or by teaspoon, usually 4 oz for the tea or 2 oz for the infusion, two to four times a day. Use Yarrow tincture according to formulators instructions.

Children 4 years to 10 years: Yarrow tea, 1 to 4 cups daily. Yarrow infusion, 2 to 4 oz, one to four times a day. Use Yarrow tincture according to formulators instructions.

Children 11 years to Adults: Yarrow tea as needed, usually not more than 8 cups per day (largest dose would be for fasting or extreme illness in adult). Yarrow infusion, 4 oz. as needed, usually not more than eight times a day.

I personally took my Yarrow tincture, 30 drops, 3 times a day. Trae, my 12 year old son takes 30 drops 1 time a day as a cold and flu preventative. This is how it can be applied as well. It tastes great (even Trae he likes it)

Why do we get a cold, flu, or any illness?

All of us are exposed to ‘bugs’ that cause these common ailments. The KEY is to keep the immune system working well to overcome them.

One of the best ways to keep your immune system working well is to keep your ‘filtering’ organs clean. These are your liver, kidneys, gut  and lungs. Congestion of these organs of elimination results in an overly toxic body. Which then lowers immune system leaving you more susceptible to disease or illness.

Toxicity→Congested liver, kidneys, gut, lungs→lowered immune system→colds/flu

One of the ways in which the bone broth, ginger, and yarrow worked to stop my cold in 1 day was that it flushed out the ‘acid’ toxins, contributing to my cold.

When thinking back, one of the main sources of my toxicity was lack of down time which resulted in sleepless nights (due to mind chatter). Sleeping is one of the primary ways in which we detoxify.

Anyways my point is that an over toxic body is why we get sick. Which is exactly why I went back to a better work/life balance. My sleep returned, I started my UNDA detox drops (for liver, kidney, and gut), kept up with my 1 to 2 cups of bone broth plus 30 drops of yarrow tincture 1 time per day (for preventative).

How I stopped a cold in 1 day…….

by hartteuser Leave a Comment

Aaahhh, the dreaded cold. You know its coming on when you wake up unusually tired, irritable and down right miserable!

You may even get pissed off like I do, if I feel a little off!

But what if you could stop a cold right in its tracks?

Better yet, what if you could stop a cold in 1 day!

Well, that is exactly what I did. Stop a cold.

COLDS – Condition and Cause

The common cold is an infection of your nose and throat (upper respiratory tract) that can be caused by dozens of different types of viruses.

Conventional medicine says there is no cure for the common cold. 1

Most colds last three to seven days.

COLDS – Conventional Treatment

Conventional treatment includes Pain relievers, for fever, sore throat and headache (ie acetaminophen, Tylenol, or others), Decongestant nasal sprays to clear the sinuses, and Cough syrups for the obvious.

While these all sound like magic pill solutions, it does come with a price. And that price is your health. In fact, medical studies have reported that with the suppression of colds, as with certain drugs, while alleviating colds, may put your health at risk, later down the road. 2.

This comes as no surprise for Holistic doctors and Natural health experts. They know the common cold is actually the way in which the body is attempting to cleanse itself of its toxins and poisons from the system.

In other words, its what the body is suppose to do to self clean and get rid of the unwanted invader (virus)

And the common symptoms associated with the virus, like runny nose, coughing, change in body temperature, diarrhea, and body aches are the manifestation of your bodies innate healing response –  at its finest!

Abet it doesn’t feel fine. I understand. But its what the body does to heal from acute infections like the common cold.

The point I am trying to get across is using over the counter medication simply further drives the toxins in deeper, and not out. Which can make you sicker in the long run.

However, healing naturally can be quick and easy. Her is how to stop a cold.

COLDS – Natural Treatment

Instead of suppressing the body in its attempt to self-heal, we support it to heal itself.

While there are many ways to treat a cold, here is what I did to stop a cold in 1 day.

Bone Broth

As far back as the 12th century, properly prepared chicken broth has been used to cure colds. 3.

Modern science has now validated this to be effective and is still employed today by some in the know.

Properly prepared, bone broth (also known as stock), is extremely nutritious, containing the minerals of bone, cartilage, marrow and vegetables as electrolytes. A form that is assimilated. This is KEY!

The benefits of broth consumption outweigh the benefits of taking a pill for a few reasons:

Assimilation: For thousands of years, our ancestors have been using bone broth and over time, our own genes have been programmed with the expectation and out right need for a steady input of familiar nutrients, such as bone broth.

Temperature: Part of the benefits come from consuming it hot and steamy, which when sipped, improves nasal clearance. Bone broth also helps improve circulation (delivering important immune factors to fight the virus), and speeds healing.

Essential minerals: Not only are minerals essential to keep your bones strong,  they are also critical for cellular function. This is where bone broth really shines. Aside from calcium, bone broth also contains glycosaminoglycans, and magnesium.

Glycosaminoglycans are very special molecules that keep our collagen happy. You are made up largely OF collagen (joints, skin, arteries, hair, everything is made from collagen). Keep that strong and healthy and you stay strong and healthy.

In summary: If you are ill and in pain, you are acidic. Bone broth replenishes minerals to balance acid and speed heal the body.

So skip the pharmacy aisle and head straight to your local farmers market or butcher for bones to make your own homemade stock. I personally get my bones from cooking a whole organic chicken first, then using the bones to make my stock right after.

Was that the ONLY thing I did that stopped my cold in 1 day? Nope.

I did two other things to stop my cold in 1 day. THAT I will reveal in my next blog post……so keep an eye on it!

By the way, because I felt such remarkable positive health results consuming bone broth, I have since made a cup of bone broth part of my Fit n Healthy daily routine.

I am happy to report faster workout recovery, an upgrade to my energy and something I cannot explain…..an overall FEELING of wellness, immediately both during and after consuming my bone broth. Which is why I was so driven to write this post for you:)

How to Eat to Get Slim, Strong, and Sexy

by hartteuser Leave a Comment

Want the secret on How to Eat to Get Slim, Strong, and Sexy?

Welcome to the Slim, Strong, and Sexy Diet!

If you’re like me, being slim, strong and sexy has always been important.

Especially with spring fast approaching.

The shorts, the sun, the upcoming beach season- and of course… getting ready for my bikini.

Next course starts April 1, 2020

The end of January has always been the time I start to ‘step it up’ and get more serious about my nutritional plan, exercise routine, and specific supplements.

In fact, I call myself ‘a perpetual student’ because of how much research I do in the field of fat loss, body sculpting, and anti-aging. I would guess it adds up to a few hrs per day.

I am always finding simple ways to burn fat for fuel (instead of sugar… which is very aging to the body), build sexy muscle (with the right exercise), and slow the aging process (to look young and feel sexy).

Let me share what I learned…

Today’s blog post will show you how to eat to get slim, strong, and sexy for summer. It’s also what I recommend to my private clients too.

Ready?

What you’re about to learn, is the program I’ve put together after 20+ years of hands-on experience.

The secret sauce was when I discovered the impact our circadian rhythm was to our overall health.

***This is especially important for those 20+ lbs overweight. If this is you – Go here to find out if you are Leptin Resistant. It’s the missing piece to breakthrough weight loss resistance.

After infusing a daily routine into the nutritional plans, Fit ‘n Healthy’s ‘slim, strong, and sexy diet’ has reached a whole new level.

Let’s start with what NOT TO DO

To get slim, strong, and sexy – DON’T DO THIS!

Don’t Starve Yourself
Doing so will get you skinny, but being a ‘skinny fat‘ isn’t sexy.
“I’m embarrassed to say, I made this mistake in my 20’s, and all I got was tired. Both my body and hair became thin. I lost my womanly shape and needless to say, I didn’t feel sexy either.”

Don’t Cleanse Without Rebuilding
Cleansing has its place in slimming down, but recognize the need to rebuild afterward.
“I am a big fan of cleansing but only in conjunction with a rebuilding phase.”

Don’t Rely on Just Supplements or Excessive Exercise
Supplements to ‘burn fat’ and exercise can help, but nothing can fix a bad diet.
“That was me, in my 20’s and 30’s. I thought if I took my ‘fat burning’ supplements and exercised more, I earned enough ‘reward points’ to have licorice ice cream for dinner (no joke)!”

To get slim, strong, and sexy – DO THIS!

In my opinion, a well-designed nutritional plan to reach your ideal weight must be in accordance with the Natural Laws of Health. These Natural Laws are universal. They all have cycles and rhythms.

Working with these cycles is how you work with your body instead of against it – the easy way. Eating your way to slim, strong, and sexy – the Fit ‘n Healthy Way

Welcome to your slim, strong, and sexy diet!

First, start by Creating your Healthy Meals in 4 Simple Steps.

Here’s how:

Create Your Healthy Meals in 4 Simple Steps:

  • Always respect circadian cycles and eat according to the season.
  • Focus on fresh, locally grown or raised produce and meats.
  • Color your plate and try new foods.

For each meal or snack, follow Steps 1 to 4: OVERVIEW

choose your protein – Calculate 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass and consume this amount throughout the day. ie 125 lbs of lean body mass = 125 grams of protein per day.

BENEFITS:

  • Helps build muscle.
  • Key nutrient for burning fat.
  • Important for repair and recovery after exercise.
  • Building blocks for healthy hormones.

choose your carbs = Choose mainly above ground veggies as your carb source during the day and add about 1/2 a cup of below the ground veggies or cooked whole grains as part of your evening meal on workout days (2-3 times a week).

BENEFITS

  • Needed for proper bowel movements, elimination of toxins.
  • Help balance hormones through proper hormone signaling.
  • Essential for disease prevention and youthful aging.
  • Replenishes ‘glycogen’ stores for enhanced daily energy and high performance.

choose your fat – Add 1 Tbsp of added fat to each of your meals.

BENEFITS

  • Anti-inflammatory properties to eliminate pain.
  • Help to stabilize blood sugar for easy fat loss and ‘happy’ mood.
  • Essential for healthy hormone balance.
  • Adds delicious flavor to meals for satiety and pleasure!

choose your extras – Incorporate these within your meals for superior health.

BENEFITS

  • Both prebiotic (that serve to ‘nourish’ your healthy bacteria) and fermented (that increase your numbers of healthy bacteria) foods keep you lean and your digestion healthy.
  • Sea vegetables contain valuable iodine for optimal metabolism and fat loss.
  • Properly made bone broths contain highly absorbable minerals to heal the gut, eliminate joint pain, reduce cellulite, and improve the immune system.
  • Condiments like herbs and spices are essentially ‘wild’ plants with medicinal properties for lifelong health and vitality.

There you have it, how to eat to get slim, strong, and sexy!

Easy Chicken Broth Recipe – Contains a secret ingredient to heal joints

by Michale Leave a Comment

Easy Chicken Broth Recipe. Otherwise known as bone broth or chicken stock.

FIX PAIN, HEAL DIGESTION, STAY WELL OVER THE WINTER MONTHS

THE ANCIENT SECRET TO HEALTHY JOINTS, BEST DIGESTION,

AND ROBUST IMMUNE SYSTEM

FIND YOUR EASY CHICKEN BROTH RECIPE HERE

CC BY by SaucyGlo

CHICKEN BROTH HAS A LONG LIST OF HEALTH BENEFITS:

Properly prepared broths using apple cider vinegar gives your body essential minerals to repair and regenerate healthy joints, digestive tracts and stops colds in their tracks.

Don’t forget the secret ingredient – apple cider vinegar. This helps to draw out essential minerals (calcium, magnesium, and potassium) into the broth for optimal health.

EASY CHICKEN BROTH RECIPE

1 whole free-range chicken or 2-3 pounds of bony chicken parts, such as necks, backs, breastbones and wings

gizzards from one chicken (optional)
feet from the chicken (optional)
4 quarts cold filtered water
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 large onion, coarsely chopped
2 carrots, peeled and coarsely chopped
3 celery sticks, coarsely chopped
1 bunch parsley

If you are using a whole chicken, cut off the wings and remove the neck, fat glands and the gizzards from the cavity. By all means, use the chicken feet if you can find them-they are full of gelatin. (Jewish folklore considers the addition of chicken feet the secret to successful broth.) Even better, use a whole chicken, with the head on. These may be found in Oriental markets. Farm-raised, free-range chickens give the best results. Many battery-raised chickens will not produce stock that gels.

Cut chicken parts into several pieces. (If you are using a whole chicken, remove the neck and wings and cut them into several pieces.) Place chicken or chicken pieces in a large stainless steel pot with water, vinegar and all vegetables except parsley. Let stand 30 minutes to 1 hour. Bring to a boil, and remove scum that rises to the top. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 6 to 24 hours. The longer you cook the stock, the richer and more flavourful it will be. About 10 minutes before finishing the stock, add parsley. This will impart additional mineral ions to the broth.

Remove whole chicken or pieces with a slotted spoon. If you are using a whole chicken, let cool and remove chicken meat from the carcass. Reserve for other uses, such as chicken salads, enchiladas, sandwiches or curries. (The skin and smaller bones, which will be very soft, may be given to your cat or dog.) Strain the stock into a large bowl and reserve in your refrigerator until the fat rises to the top and congeals. Skim off this fat and reserve the stock in covered containers in your refrigerator or freezer.
