Top Supplements For Healthy Travel – Part 2 of 4

How To Avoid Getting Sick, Tired And Fat While Traveling

Part 2: Top Supplements For Healthy Travel

Are you someone who struggles with constipation, low energy, illness, or gain unwanted weight while traveling? Then check out my top supplements for healthy travel.

After coming back from Belize with my family for 2 weeks, I found these 9 Supplements to be the perfect ‘fit’ for staying Fit n Healthy while traveling.

Why these supplements?

Traveling takes its toll on these two KEY areas in your body that have a direct effect on how you look and feel –

Your Mitochondria (energy, fat burning) and Microbiome (digestion, immune, fat burning)

Mitochondria and its link to energy and fat burning

Mitochondria are tiny ‘bacteria like’ organelles, contained within nearly all of your cells. These powerhouses generate the vast majority of the energy (adenosine triphosphate or ATP) in your body.

So to HAVE energy, we need to be able to PRODUCE energy – and that’s through your mitochondria.

Unfortunately, due to artificial lighting, time zone differences, high amount of toxicity and poor food choices, your mitochondria become dysfunctional leading to mitochondrial insufficiency.

When it comes to staying lean, the more tired you are, the less likely you are to exercise or make better food choices while away. So keeping your mitochondria healthy is a top priority.

Microbiome and its link to your digestion, immune system, and fat burning

Your microbiome is a miniature world made up of trillions of microscopic, ‘non-human’ organisms that live in your body.

Most of which reside in your digestive tract.

These organisms are a collection of bacteria (both good and bad), parasites, fungi, viruses, and protozoa. They are the ones that help digest your food, govern your appetite and taste buds, control your metabolism, orchestrate your immune system, influence your mood, and even help to determine how your ‘human’ genes are expressed.

You actually have 10 times more of these ‘non-human’ cells than human.

As you can see, they have a MAJOR impact on your digestion,  immune system and ability to burn fat. When It comes to weight loss, having more of the ‘right type’ of organisms and less of the ‘wrong type’, dictates how well you are at getting and staying lean too!

Good news is, the supplements I’ve chosen support both your mitochondria + microbiome. See below for my top supplements for healthy travel.

TOP SUPPLEMENTS FOR HEALTHY TRAVEL

Listed from top left to right (See photo):

Oxylent Powdered Multivitamin

I take one of these packets to help with hydration, energy, and extra antioxidants (to counterbalance the deleterious effects of oxidation, while traveling). Taste great too.

HMF Travel

This is my probiotic of choice. Keeps my digestion running smoothly so that I can have my daily good-sized BMs and avoid the runny ones. Also good protection against infection. I take 1 cap 2 times a day. Must be taken with food. Ideally, start 2 weeks prior to travel for best results.

Activated Charcoal

I take activated charcoal as a ‘just in case’ supplement tool if I feel I’ve consumed something that will give me food poisoning. I also take one capsule with water when I have wine. In the case of suspected food poisoning, take 1-2 caps with a large glass of water. Activated charcoal soaks up the toxins to mitigate cellular damage.

Digest Plus

I pop 2 to 3 of these caps just prior to eating my meals. Sitting for hours on end really does hamper the digestive system keeping you ‘plugged up’. These digestive aids help digest my meals to keep me feeling light and energized and not bloated and tired.

Berberis Formula

This keeps you from getting sick when traveling. It stops airborne pathogens in their tracks. Plus, has an added ‘blood sugar’ balancing effect and has demonstrated to boost brown fat activity to keep you lean when traveling. Brown fat is the type of fat that burns energy instead of storing it. I take 3 caps, 2 times a day with food.

Chlorogen

I tend to get constipated when traveling – there, I admit it. So, I pop 3 of these suckers just before I fly and sometimes again after my next meal. Then, just as the sun rises to the occasion, so do my bowels. They soak up toxins and help with liver support if your trip includes a glass or two of wine.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C also helps with proper BMs. It has the added benefit of being an antiviral (to keep you from getting sick), antioxidant (to keep you from looking and feeling old and crinkly), and has anti-inflammatory properties (to avoid knee and body pain while traveling).

Magnesium

I like the ‘citrate’ form of magnesium while traveling to keep my bowels moving (avoiding constipation), Derived from the magnesium salt of citric acid, this form of magnesium has a lower concentration, but higher bioavailability (90%). Keeps my muscles from tightening and helps me sleep at night. I take 1 in the am and 3 just before bedtime.

Ubiquinol (CoEnzyme Q10) – not shown in the photo

Traveling just destroys your mitochondria (energy). CoQ10 is the most powerful supplement to help restore it. Ubiquinol is the fully reduced version of CoQ10. It facilitates the conversion of energy substrates and oxygen into energy. Taking ubiquinol can help protect your mitochondrial membranes from oxidative damage. I take 5 just prior to stepping on the plane. You ideally take it with food too.

There you have it! My top supplements for healthy travel.

I surely hope you found my simple solutions helpful to avoid getting sick, tired, and fat while traveling.
